FOUNDERS DAY IS NOT A DAY FOR CELEBRATION BUT FOR PLANNING – DR TUTU BOAHENE

A political analyst, Dr Bernard Tutu Boahene, on a day set aside to remember the good deeds of the Big Six, the Founding Fathers of our nation, has rather lamented about the state of the nation now as compared to the time of these Founders.

You will see that we have not gone that far in terms of development, we’ve not been able to meet the expectations of the people, I wouldn’t say it is a disappointment because as a teacher when you mark and you are giving a remark, you say: There is more for improvement, so I would say we can do better

He compared the number of years the country has been independent, to that of other countries and was appalled with the lack of development which characterizes the country even in the face of all our natural resources. He said finally, “Ghana has not gone far with developments as compared to other countries.”

He encouraged though, that there is more room for improvement and the country can do better with deliberate planning.
He advised politicians and the citizenry as a whole to come together, because this is not the time for celebration but rather for intentional planning.
