The Ghana Football Association have sealed a multi-year sponsorship deal with BetPawa

The Ghana Premier League which has been sponsor-less since 2018, has received a bumper headline sponsorship from BetPawa ahead of the 2022/23 season. Signing on behalf of BetPawa, international superstar and BetPawa stakeholder Mr Eazi highlighted that “the company’s high appetite for growing and harnessing talents, creating opportunities and rewarding fans across its markets are a few of the many reasons for partnering with the GFA”.

The current administration of the Ghana Football Association headed by Kurt E.S Okraku, has been in search for a headline sponsor for the country’s top-tier league in the last three years.

The Football Association has secured some partnership deals for the Premier League from companies such as Electroland Ghana, Melcom, ZAZ Produkte, Tempo Balls, InterCity STC and Chinese Pay-TV operators, Startimes as the official broadcasters.

The Ghana Premier League has been without a headline sponsor for three years after a five-year contract worth $10 million signed in 2018 between the Football Association and Zylofon Cash ended prematurely following the dissolution of the financial institution.

The lack of headline sponsor since 2018 has increased the financial burden of clubs, which sometimes put the Ghana Premier League in jeopardy.

GFA Kurt Okraku on his part commended betPawa for the partnership on behalf of the Executive Council and the football fraternity in Ghana.

Okraku further pointed out that Ghana is blessed with a lot of football talents and evidence is seen through the display of soccer artistry across the various leagues.

Betting companies have recently taken an interest in Ghana Football, with Betway also investing in the women’s league. They have also worked with the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to organize a series of seminars for Division One League clubs and women’s football administrators.
