A stalwart member of the NPP, Mr Emmanuel Kwarteng has applauded the President’s call for reparation for Africa on issues of slavery.
Mr. Emmanuel Kwarteng who also serves as a communicator for the NPP said, he welcomes the President’s call but it should not be led by Ghana but by the African Union.
Speaking with Juliana Ijeoma on am. Ghana, Kwarteng disclosed that the Asian world is of the believe that African leaders have ‘loosened their guard’ on themselves as a nation. He said Africa has never been united hence the reason any African countries haven’t been compensated.
“We can only be compensated if Africans collectively, as a union [African Union] make such demands from the west and Americans”.
He said the UK and Portugal have most benefited from the slave trade in Africa.
Previously, Black communities in America and Europe did not want to be identified with their roots, though the notion is changing gradually, most Africans still exist that do not want to be identified as Africans.
“We have individuals that are still of the notion that Africa is a jungle,” he said.
He, therefore, urged African leaders to support the president’s call collectively in order to get the necessary apology that Africans need.
