Ghana’s defunct boxing league has officially been launched at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
The competition is expected to begin in February 2022 with juvenile, amateur and professional boxing championships on regular Saturday nights at twelve boxing Gymnasiums. The boxing league is bouncing back after about 16years break.
The new professional boxing league is a collaborative effort of the Ghana Boxing Authority(GBA) and IMAX MEDIA GROUP. The annual budget of 340,000 US dollars goes into boxers purse, allowance for ring officials, production cost, live coverage and publicity.
The league system is expected to keep professional boxers active, shape their talents and project them to the rest of the world via Television. Boxers on the boxing league radar are expected to benefit from cash(purse) and products to keep them motivated and healthy throughout the period.
Only stakeholders with licences will be allowed to participate in the league.
