B.E.C.E CANDIDATES DROWN IN OTI RIVER

Ten J.H.S. students the St. Charles Liwanga JHS in the Saboba district of Northern Region drowned in the Oti River when a boat they were returning from Butuin where they had gone to do some some work on their headteacher’s farm.

The students who were about 30 in number fell off the boat when it capsized.

Many of the students managed to swim to safety, whiles seven of them unfortunately lost their lives and their bodies subsequently deposited at the at Saboba Police Station for transportation to the Yendi Hospital to be preserved.

ASP Shine Zokoiku, Saboba District Police commander says a search party has been launched to retrieve the remaining three bodies that have not yet been found.

The Students are said to be in Junior High School and were awaiting the commencement of their BECE.

Efforts to reach the headteacher of the school has proved futile.
