10 GIJ students test positive for Covid-19

Information reaching Adoanewsonline indicates that 10 Diploma weekend students of Ghana Institute of Journalism(GIJ) have contracted covid-19.

From what the news team has gathered, the said students contracted the virus during the face to face lectures and SRC week celebrations which was held on the old campus, Thursday.

Some students have expressed their fear of not joining the face to face class after the news broke out and call on management and the school authorities to begin with online class before the end of the 2nd semester.

The school is set to resume classes in August after a 1 week break period to prepare for the mid sem exams which will be face to face.

Ghana seems to be facing a third wave of coronavirus infections driven by the more transmissible delta variant.

Ghana has seen over 5,000 Covid-19 cases, including 823 deaths, since the first case was reported. The delta variant has led in recent weeks a rise in severe cases and deaths.
