Payment of taxes and filing of annual returns has now gone online, beginning today.
This means that these activities can be done via the Ghana.gov platform.
After years of efforts to reduce the human element in tax collections, a move is expected to help improve revenue mobilization.
The Ghana Revenue Authority is also moving the payment of taxes from its offices to 22 selected banks from today.
It is therefore reminding the public that by this move, it will no longer accept cheques for tax payment at its offices.
Commissioner-General, Reverend Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah said this will make it easier for businesses and individuals to pay their taxes regularly.
“For the first time in history, we’ll ensure taxes are paid not by walking to our offices. In fact, eventually, by next year, we will not have tellers in our offices at all; we are moving towards a cashless system”.
