The National Labour Commission has today 28th May 2021 secured an interlocutory injunction from the High Court of Justice, ordering members of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Chapter of Ghana Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS) in Kumasi to call off their industrial Strike action.
A press release signed by the General Secretary of the commission , Hon. Ofosu Asamoah , restrained the said persons involved in the action from what it described as “Illegal Strike Action” and urged the KATH GAMLS to comply with procedures provided under the Labour Act.
The said statement came after Lab scientists in A/Region declared an indefinite strike over a stalemate at KATH’s lab unit. The group in a statement said the workers will only return to work after the two hematologists have been reassigned.
“The indefinite strike starts from Thursday, 27th May 2021. We will not resume working until the Management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) removes the two Physicians (Haematologists) from the Laboratory (Haematology) Unit.”
The group statement further reads, “We direct all our members in Ghana Health Services, Christian Health Association of Ghana, University Hospitals and all other health institutions to completely stay out of work from today [Thursday] until further notice.”
