Some members of the Ghana Electrical Dealers Association have had their stalls demolished at Opera Square in Accra’s Central Business District with the claim the assembly is attempting to evict them from the location.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah who denied the assembly’s involvement noted that his outfit will get to the bottom of the matter. The Mayor noted that his office will not let any of the affected Traders be displaced in any way as the Accra Metropolis is built on the shoulders of traders, he assured them that his office is on their side and also to feed what has happened to the dogs for future development and peace. He went on to caution the traders against further violence as the Ghana police service will not spare any one of any Future destruction.
However, according to the national welfare Officer for Guta Mr. Benjamin Yeboah, the exercise which took place during the late hours of Sunday is unfair and must be addressed by authorities with immediate effect before matters get out of hand. Mr. Benjamin Yeboah, therefore urged all the affected sellers to keep calm as the association is in support of their decision, we went on to say, the association will not sit idle for the affected members to suffer in this time of a pandemic.
