The confederation of African football President Ahmad Ahmad was banned by FIFA for breaching several codes of ethics.
The 60-year-old Malagasy ,vice-president of world governing body Fifa, was found to have breached codes relating to duty of loyalty, offering and accepting gifts, abuse of position and misappropriation of funds;hence his ban from FIFA for five years.
Ahmad expressed his desire to reran for the position of the Presidency before he was hit with the ban by FIFA.
The ban however placed his candidacy into suspension making him ineligible to contest for the role of the Presidency.
Not withstanding Ahmad expressed his desire to challenge the sanctions imposed on him by the world’s football governing body, FIFA.
The CAF elections which is to be held at the the 42nd extraordinary Congress will take place on March 12 ,2021 in Rabat, Morocco.
CAF Emergency Meeting Details & Ahmad’s Surprise Inclusion
Ahead of the CAF extraordinary congress and elections, Interim President of CAF, Constant Omari held an emergency meeting to reveal it’s plans and processes ahead of Congress.
CAF sent a document to all stakeholders reminding them of the extraordinary Congress to be held in Rabat, Morocco. In the Document Ahmad Ahmad’s name was included in the list of Candidates for Presidency which surprised many.
During CAF’s emergency meeting it was noted that the football governing body of Africa would submit a list of all candidates who have submitted their applications to vie for the elections.
Then CAF together with FIFA would then set and formalize the final list for the Candidates;So any decision on Ahmad would be decided by FIFA.
Again, note that CAF did not ban Ahmad Ahmad but only suspended his role as President.

CAF’s role is to produce all candidates, FIFA together with CAF will then settle on whom they deem suitable or unsuitable for each role at CAF.
Meanwhile CAF has validated the candidacy of Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku to become a member of the Executive Committee.
