The National Democratic Congress flagbearer, John Mahama has described the results of the just-ended elections as “fictionalized.”
“I stand before you tonight unwilling to accept the fictionalized result of a flawed election.”
He said the NDC will take all legitimate steps to revert the flaws of the result. He assures all NDC electorate to make their votes count. “Let me assure you my dear voter that, your vote will count”
John Mahama further congratulated NDC Parliamentary Candidates who won parliamentary seats in the just-ended election describing them as “Giant elephant killers”. John Mahama disclosed that he chooses to be a determined optimist.
“I choose to be a determined optimist,” he said.
Meanwhile, according to the Electoral Commission in the declaration of results President Akufo-Addo won the presidential vote with 6,730,587 (51.302%) votes while Mr. Mahama came second with 6,213,182 votes representing 47.359%.
In other stories, the President-elect, President Akufo-Addo appoints a 15-member transition team.
The team will be led by the Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare while Akufo-Addo who will be serving a second four-year term named Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo; Chief Justice, Gloria Akuffo; Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta; Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery; Dominic Nitiwul, Defence Minister; and Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway as members.
