IPAC has been reduced to an information sharing forum –NDC

The National Democratic Congress(NDC) has stated that the Electoral Commission has reduced the Inter-party Advisory Committee(IPAC) into an information sharing forum, which shows disrespect.

This was made known at a Press briefing held by the party to speak on the state of preparedness towards the election on Wednesday, November 25,2020.

They noted that the EC only communicate its decisions to political parties and other stakeholders and does not take their views into account.

Director of Elections of the NDC, Hon. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah who addressed the Media stated that the Commission lead by Mrs. Jean Mensah has abandoned consensus building to taking into consideration unilateral decisions on important matters on elections.

“The EC has shown that it is above the law and therefore has no regard for any institution in this country, but we don’t blame them for continuing to act this way because they have the support of the one who appointed them; Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and this has created a credibility crisis for the Electoral Commission,”

To back his statement, Hon. Afriyie-Ankrah further cited a 2019 US Human Rights Report by the US State Department, alluding to the fact that the report vindicates their position on the Jean Mensa administration’s bias towards the governing NPP.
