The National Democratic Congress has promised to rapidly transform the Agriculture industry through Modernization and mechanization with a key focus on Agribusiness as a means of creating sustainable jobs.
Speaking at the 14th Edition of the NDC’s weekly press briefing at its Headquarters, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi made claims that more than fifty percent of Ghanaians in the Agricultural sector contributes only a paltry 17% of Ghana’s GDP.
According to him, the Mahama led government had better plans and policies to help grow the Agricultural sector hence the sector would weep more benefits for the people of Ghana.
Below are the policies of the NDC Outlined by Mr. Sammy Gyamfi;
- Increase local production of cereal crops, starchy staple legumes, vegetables and other food products through mechanization and Modernization
- Increase the local processing of our local produce into secondary and tertiary products through agribusinesses
- Credit to promote Agriculture and Agribusiness
- Restructure rural credit and the Ghana Exim bank to improve credit to strategic Agriculture and Agribusiness.
The NDC communicator assured Ghanaians that these policies will place Ghana on a path of self-sufficiency in the production of commodities and the possibility of excess for export, stimulate economic growth and create opportunities for sustainable jobs in the Agricultural business chain.
