The member of Parliament for the people of Adaklu constituency has lashed at President of the republic HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for commissioning Ten thousand hospital beds without building any hospital to accommodate them.
Speaking earlier today on AdoaTV, Hon Kwame Agbodza who is also a spokesperson for the NDC 2020 campaign on infrastructure accused the president for commissioning beds where hospitals some will have to keep them in their storerooms as there will be no space for the new beds to occupy.
The president of the republic HE Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP), commissioned ten thousand beds to be distributed to hospitals across the country.
According to President Akufo-Addo, it is always disconcerting to see patients being treated in wheelchairs, in plastic chairs, and even on the floors because of the unavailability of beds.
The president further disclosed that Government’s determination to see an end to this no-bed syndrome has resulted in the decision to procure these hospital beds and their associated accessories for distribution across the country, to augment the existing numbers in the country.
In total, one thousand, five hundred (1,500) pieces of critical care beds with overhead tables; two thousand (2,000) pieces of standard hospital beds with bedside lockers; four thousand (4,000) pieces health center beds with bedside lockers; one thousand (1,000) pieces of children’s cot; and one thousand, five hundred (1,500) pieces of delivery beds have been purchased.
