The parliamentary candidates for tamale Central on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress have accused the Jean Mensah led electoral commission for exhibiting incompetence on the ongoing voter’s exhibition exercise.
Hon Muntala Mohammed disclosed that the electoral commission is deliberately changing data captured during the voter’s registration exercise by exchanging the sex of the applicants from male to female in the register to disenfranchise eligible voters.
The electoral commission on September 18, started the voter’s exhibition exercise for all registered voters to verify their names and make the necessary changes however the member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Hon Ernest Norgbe alleged that over twenty-one thousand names from his constituency were missing from the provisional register including himself.
The electoral commission in a press release disputed the allegations leveled against them indicating that Ernest Norgbe who is also the member of Parliament for Ashaiman has his name in the register.
In an interview with Hon muntala Mohammed a parliamentary candidate earlier today Wednesday, September 23, stated that while going around some polling stations within his constituency there were people whose sexes were changed from male to female and other names attached to different pictures.
