The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof Peter Twumasi, invited all Heads of contact sports Federations yesterday, to discuss measures to be put in place towards the resumption of training and competitions.
The lifting of the restrictions by H.E N.A Addo on Sunday, recalled the need for all heads of contact sports to discuss necessary measures to be put in place before the commencement of all contacts sports taking into consideration all COVID-19 protocols and safety measures.
Each Federation was asked to prepare a comprehensive guideline and protocols for their sport’s training and competition to the Ministry of Youth & Sport through the NSA before resumption of training.
It was agreed, that the ministry will pay for COVID-19 tests for all athletes, coaches and officials of teams and provide PPEs for various teams before training resumes.
Education on COVID-19 for teams was also considered at the meeting which was held at the Media Center inside the Accra Sports Stadium.
Earlier, the Ghana Taekwondo Federation had circulated a letter signed by the Secretary General, Master Adnan Odartey Lamptey asking all Taekwondo training to hold on to immediately beginning training until Guidelines and Protocols based on World Taekwondo Guidelines and Protocols for Safe return to competition and Training during Covid-19 is issued by the National Secretariat and clearance is sought from the National Sports Authority.
