Prior to the suspension of the Nurses strike, the news team visited some public clinics earlier today and came through with the following report. The strike urged by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), on September 21, 2020, involves all public sector nurses, midwives, physician assistants (PAs) and anesthetists.
Despite an injunction secured by the National Labour Commission (NLC) to restrain members of the association from laying down their tools, the nurses carried out their plan, bringing healthcare services to a halt in many public health facilities.
The news teams earlier today following the nationwide strike exercise of the nurses visited the Mamprobi Polyclinic where the facility was devoid of healthcare givers.
The team then proceeded to Dansoman Polyclinic and got interactive with the Senior Health Administrator Mrs. Hannah Mbi who disclosed that the nationwide strike and can only corroborate to the fact that it is related to better living conditions and salaries of the nurses. According to her, work is in section at Dansoman Polyclinic because doctors and other paramedics are not on strike.
