Retract and apologize – NLA Boss to Multimedia over malicious documentary

The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) for the National Lottery Authority, Kofi Osei-Ameya is demanding a retraction and apology from Multimedia Group Limited for what he describes as defamatory statement published against his person on one of its channels, Joy News.

According to him, Joy News published a teaser to a yet-to-be broadcasted Hotline documentary titled “The Lottery Business” which is an investigation on the Point of Sale Terminals acquired by the National Lottery Authority.

He said in the teaser, an extract of a letter purporting to be emanating from him requesting approval of the Public Procurement Authority to purchase the said Point of Sale Terminals via single-source procurement method adding that the “Price of the POS Terminal has been inflated by more than ten million United States Dollars”.

Kofi Osei-Ameyaw contends that the claims are untrue indicating that it’s unacceptable for the media entity to portray him to the public as dishonourable and corrupt.

He expressed shock at the fact that the media entity did not contact him while undergoing its investigations.

Kofi Osei-Ameyaw has asked that the said promo be stopped from airing on all multimedia channels, and the media house retract and issue an apology on all its platforms and delete portions of the documentary he deems as malicious.
