President for the National House of Chiefs Togbe Afede XIV, in a statement, is demanding an apology from the flagbearer of the opposition NDC John Mahama over a post he shared on his Facebook timeline.
According to the statement, the post was written by Hon. Isaac Adongo and shared by the former President John Mahama, contains malice and should be retracted.
“The content of the post which is divisive, Tribalistic and unwarranted do not deserve being repeated since it has the potential to cause disunity amongst us”
“We are using this medium to condemn in no uncertain terms, this tasteless post being promoted by the former president,” an excerpt of the statement read.
The demand for the apology follows what the House of Chiefs describes as ‘ethnocentric sentiments’ against the chiefs and people of Akyem.
“The 2020 elections are around the corner and such ethnocentric sentiments should not be promoted in our body politic. We believe that this communique will be well received and accordingly worked on by the former president,” the statement read further.
