Residents of Nayilifong and Kpatuya in the Yendi Constituency of the Northern Region have benefited from 2 mechanized boreholes donated by Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area.
This is to help residents in the two communities within the Yendi Municipality deal with the perennial water challenges they face.
Commissioning the project at a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Tuesday, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama indicated that his intervention was in response to an appeal made by the affected communities for a reliable water supply source.
He also emphasized that the project was to complement government’s effort in dealing with the water situation. The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, earlier this month cut sod for the construction of the Yendi water project which is to help bring a lasting solution to the people of the Yendi Municipality. Meanwhile the mechanized boreholes will be used by residents until the Yendi Water Project is completed.
In attendance at the ceremony was the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, chiefs and a number of party executives. Members of the community led by their traditional leadership thanked Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama for the support and pledged their commitment to his Yendi agenda.
The Yendi Municipality is one of the many areas noted for perennial water shortages.
