The Electoral Commission has been given the green light to proceed with its decision to compile a new voters register today 30th June 2020 ahead of the general election on December 7 amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The news team visited the Osu Kinka electoral centre to monitor the exercise.
The Registration Officer For Special Duties Mr. Evans Acquah noted that the turnout was encouraging as today mark the first day for the exercise.
He recounted that the Commission has set some protocols which requires that one must go through the necessary procedure ie getting a temperature check, Washing of hands before going through the data entry checks.
On matters related to challenges, Mr. Acquah disclosed that some members of the NDC party are making their work difficult, including their ability to make changes in terms of wrong spelling of a citizen’s name.
The officer, however
cautioned that persons who wear blue attire won’t be able to register since the background for taking the required size if a picture is blue.
Meanwhile, a citizen, Mr. Barrister who happens to be a guarantor as well lamented over the inappropriate behaviour of some EC officials who claimed that he came to the premises without a valid ID.
