An impeachment proceedings have been initiated against the National President of UTAG by Lectures of University of Ghana UTAG branch. According to them, the President has mispresented and side-lines its position on the Public Universities Bill 2020 in his public engagements.
In a said statement by UG- UTAG signed by Dr Samuel Kojo Kwofie, Vice-President, UG-UTAG and Dr Bethel Kwansa-Bentum, Secretary, indicate that the National President is not serving the interest of members in the Public Universities Bill matter. however, the resolution was passed at an emergency meeting held on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
UG-UTAG has observed that the demeanour and public utterances of the National President suggest that he is not committed to carrying out the mandate of the public universities which is advocating for the withdrawal or rejection of the PUB by the Executive or Parliament respectively.
“Per Article XXIV Clause 1 and Article XXV Clause 1 of the UTAG National Constitution, we have initiated impeachment proceedings against the National President.
