Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh

Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh who represents the minority caucus as the ranking member on the health committee has stated that the Akufo Addo’s led administration is not handling the covid-19 pandemic properly.

He emphasized that the persistent increase number of Covid-19 infections in the country is evidence to the Minority’s position that the NPP government is not handling the management of the pandemic properly.

Hon.Akandoh indicated that president Akufo-Addo has not listened to the many expert’s advice to be conscious about lifting restrictions on Covid-19

He cautioned that emerging signs shows that if care is not taken, our health system will soon be overwhelmed by the pandemic and mortalities will go beyond the 48 cases.

Again, he disclosed that the Medical Director of the Ga East Treatment Centre has been reported to have stated that the Hospital has begun to receive many symptomatic patients as compared to the initial asymptomatic cases.

Further indicated that reports reveals that 24 Health workers have tested positive for Covid -19 in Mfantseman Municipality which has affected the staff strengths of the directorate.

He therefore iterated that government should move beyond lifting restrictions for political gains and listen to advice by public experts on the management of Covid-19 in the country.

Also, he demanded that there should be more action on the ground than the political propaganda as well as resources from the Covid -19 fund should be prudently used to strengthen the Health system and ensure that the pandemic is adequately controlled.
