Freight forwarders to demonstrate If Challenges Are Not Resolved

Freight forwarders across the country have called on the government to resolve challenges at the ports or provide better alternatives to ensure a better workable system.

They also asked for issues with the UNI-PASS platform to be resolved or better still bring back GCNet to operate concurrently with UNI-PASS.

According to the freight forwarders, the problem they were facing was “about who takes over the system,

They want government to give an end-to-end system that will help them do smooth business.

The GCNet-operated system went down last Monday when the company withdrew for ICUMS, UNIPASS to take over following the termination of its contract.

After a week of operations, UNIPASS is still struggling with their system thus affecting port clearance.

The angry freight forwarders threatened to demonstrate if the challenge was not resolved by Wednesday, 10 June.
