Hearts of Oak legend Bernard Dong Bortey has been appointed as head coach of Techiman-Gold Stars.
The 37-year-old says his inspiration is from the Cecil Jones Atuquayefio- who coached him to stardom at Hearts of Oak and also in the 1999 Ghana U17 team which finished third at the FIFA World Cup in New Zealand.
However, the former GHAPOHA and Aduana Stars talisman is yet to receive his CAF License C certificate which will certify him to sit on the bench.
Bortey believes he has the necessary credentials to develop talents in Ghana football
Speaking to the media he said he wants to concentrate on helping the younger generation with the vast knowledge he had acquired in football during his playing days.
He continued that he has been coaching for the last two years. It is very stressful but I believe I have a lot to offer these young ones.’
Bortey had a short coaching stint at Accra-based Emmanuel FC where he worked under ex-Ghana international goalkeeper Richard Kingston.
