WBO Africa heavyweight champion Richard Harrison Lartey has revealed that he is no more working under Cabic Boxing Promotions
Richard Harrison Lartey, Ghana’s World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa Heavyweight champion said among the many reasons why he is not with Cabic, he lost confidence in Cabic Promotions, following the failure of the company to secure British visa for his coach when he was knocked out by British Daniel Dubois at the SSE Arena in Wembley
In an exclusive interview with Samuel Appiah on ADOA TV, Richard Lartey disclosed that Cabic Boxing Promotions breached the agreement they had which caused him to pull out of the contract they signed back in 2018
He said ‘’when you have a contract with someone and they breach it, it’s up to you to approach the person in a nice way so that you all get going but if you don’t respect the contract then the boxer has to bow out if he wants but as at now I have nothing to do with Cabic, Cabic is history to me now and am doing my own thing.
When quizzed about a return to Cabic he responded that his time with Cabic Promotions was an experience he will not like to go through again in his career.
He continued that the absence of his coach affected him a lot.
‘’Whenever am fighting there are slogans that my coach say at a particular time for me to change my style and approach in the ring but the bout against Daniel Dubois my coach was not there and there were no slogans and instructions from my corner and it affected me a lot, even before the bout I cried in the dressing room before entering the ring he lamented.
Richard Lartey went on to advised young and upcoming boxers to be wary of the caliber of people they sign contract with
According to him, there are people in the boxing industry who are good at managing boxers while others only use and dump them because of the money they have.
He said ‘’Whenever you are going to sign a contract with somebody you should know the caliber of people you are going to sign a contract with, not somebody who will come say am rich, no, there are people in the boxing industry who are good at managing boxers and their people who think they are rich and will come and use boxers for their own gain which is wrong.
