The United Nations Children’s Fund(UNICEF) has commended Government for its immense support in the fight against Covid-19 in Ghana.
The United Nations Children’s Fund(UNICEF) applauded when they handed over Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and medical supplies to the Department of social welfare, under the Ministry of Gender, Children and social protection to protect vulnerable children during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking during the presentation, Madam Anne Claire, Unicef Representative to Ghana said, the Government have made an amazing effort to the virus in the country compare to the number of cases with other European countries.
According to her, the measures put in place by the ministry of health by obeying the social distancing, wearing of a mask, washing of hands have been very clear and encourage Ghanaians to follow the guidance to protect themselves from the virus.
She also commended the efforts of the ministry of Gender, Children and social protection for their continuous support for vulnerable children during these challenging times.
Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection and member of parliament for Agona West constituency, Hon. Cynthia Morrison receiving the items on behalf of the ministry said, the Ministry of Gender has been in collaboration with Unicef for a long time and they are going to use the items donated to support the vulnerable children in the country.
She urged parents to educate their children on the social distancing and handwashing protocols and eat very well to boost their immune system to avoid the spread of the COVID-19.
