The CEO OF Coastal Development Authority Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib has alleged that some individuals were behind the carrying away of the Chorkor Chemunaa bridge after the torrential rain on sunday.
Adoa news visited the chorkor CHEMUNAA on Wednesday, April 29, to follow up on an earlier report.
Upon reaching the site, Adoa TV’S Isaac Otoo realised that a team from the Coastal Development Authority led by the CEO lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaiba as well as contractors and consultants were present and had started wirk towards the construction of a new bridge.
Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib indicated that, had it not been for the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic which resulted in restriction of movements over the last few weeks, construction of a new bridge would have started as the authority had already awarded the contract for the construction of a bridge to make crossing of the lagoon easier.
In response to why a floating unbreakable bridge was been carried away by flood, the CODA boss Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib alleged that some individuals contributed to the driving away of the bridge.
He added that investigations are been carried out by the chorkor police and the perpetrators will be brought to book.
