Ronaldinho is in Paraguay, in a hotel, under house arrest. Much has been said about him in recent weeks, but the words have not been coming out of his mouth. Finally, he broke his silence in an interview with ‘ABC’ to put his thoughts on the table.
Going into prison “was a hard blow, I never imagined I would go through a situation like that. All my life I’ve tried to reach the highest professional level and bring joy to people with my football. All the people I had the opportunity to share my time there have received me with kindness,” he said.
On how he experienced his detention, he explained: “We were totally surprised to learn that the documents were not legal. Since then, our intention has been to collaborate with Justice to clarify the fact as we have been doing since the beginning. From that moment until today, we have explained everything and facilitated everything that Justice asked of us”.
He explained that he simply travelled to do business: “Everything we do is under contracts that are managed by my brother, who is my representative. In this case, we came to participate in the launch of an online casino and the book ‘Craque da Vida’, which was organized with the company that has the rights to exploit the book in Paraguay.
His hope is that, thanks to the collaboration with the authorities, they will end up being free: “We hope that they can use and confirm everything we bring to bear on our position in the case and that we can get out of this situation as soon as possible”.
He also made it clear in his interview what he will do first as soon as he can return home: “The first thing will be to give a big kiss to my mother, who has been living these difficult days since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in her home; then, it will be to absorb the impact that this situation has generated and move forward with faith and strength”.
