A commercial vehicle has been arrested and remanded by Koforidua District Magistrate Court for stabbing a passenger to death over a disagreement on social distancing.
Information gathered indicates that the driver and mate picked a quarrel with the deceased and his brother who apparently joined the vehicle on Suhum to Koforidua road after complaining that the driver has breached the rule of social distancing by overloading.
This according to sources created a heated argument in the vehicle .
Reaching Akwadum roundabout, the deceased and his brother slammed the door of the vehicle whilst casting insults on the accused driver and his mate.
The already angered driver and mate pounced on the two brothers and in the process, the mate allegedly pulled a knife for the driver who stabbed the deceased multiple times to death.
His brother also suffered multiple knife injuries but is currently in a critical condition at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
The driver has been provisionally charged with murder and expected to reappear in court in two weeks.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Region Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenerzer Tetteh in a report told Starr News that the driver was immediately arrested but the mate is on the run.
