Heavy security checks at Okponglo road

The Novel coronavirus infection which started in China has crossed countries spreading its deadly virus among people who come in contact with infected persons.

Ghana as at today Tuesday 7th April 2020 has recorded about 287cases with 5deaths.

In a bid to curb its spread among citizens, president of the republic Nana Addo Danquah Akkufo Addo as places a 14 day lockdown between Greater Accra, Greater Kumas and Tema.

Movements between people from one place to the other have been halted as security personnel are on their toes restricting pedestrians and other road users form loitering with a cause.

Today marke day 8 of the lockdown in Accra and Adoanewsonline was at the Okponglo-East Legon road to access the situation of traffic flow from Dodowa, madina and adenta.

As at 010:07am today, DSP Isaac Sackitey for the national highway patrol command disclosed that the presence of security on the highway was to enforce the lockdown directive.

He further explained that those on exemption including journalists, pharmacists, food vendors, or those on essential duties will be allowed to pass after showing a credible identity card.

However, some citizens who could not answer questions posed to them by the security personnel were directed to make a u-turn and head back towards legon.

DSP Sackitey urged all citizens who do not have legit businesses in the Accra central business district in these times should desist from coming of town.
