Members of parliament today 4th April 2020 have expressed gratitude with well-wishes for the speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Aaron Oquaye on his 76th birthday.
Some members of parliament today on the floor of the house took turns to express their joy for an additional year to the life of the speaker who they indicated is an exceptional leader.
Both the majority and minority caucus on the floor of the house poured out payers of good wishes and long life for the speaker.
The Majority Leader Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu speaking on behalf of the Majority Caucus indicated that due to the situation at hand which requires social distancing the house cannot organize any sort of get-together.
However, words alone at this moment is enough to show how grateful they are to God as members of parliament for the life of the speaker.
“Speaker today marks your 76th birthday which calls for a celebration, however, due to the circumstances at hand which requires some level of social distancing, we cannot meet has members of parliament to celebrate together.
But one thing I must say is that we are grateful to God and we share in your joy” Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu iterated.
The Minority leader Hon Haruna Iddrisu also spoke on behalf of the minority caucus in parliament indicating that the minority is also grateful to God for an additional year to the Speaker’s life.
He said, ” Mr Speaker we in the minority are grateful to God for adding another to your life, we pray that may God continue to be kind to you with long life, good health and many more”.
Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Aaron Oquaye expressed his gratitude to both sides of the house for their good wishes.
