GNPC to respond over GHC 2m contribution

The Minority in Parliament is to draw the Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu before Parliament over what it depicts as wasteful expenditure by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

GNPC has come under criticism over the budget of about GH¢ 2 million for contribution and support of some public officials.

An inside memo projected showed that different amounts were given to the First Lady’s Foundation, Rebecca Foundation; The Ghana Journalists Association(GJA) and the gathering at the Okyenhene’s 20th anniversary.

The record,dated 29th October 2019 from the Chief Executive to the Board Secretary, said that the contribution and sponsorship had been sanctioned by the GNPC Board upon the endorsement  by the Brand, Communication and Corporate Social Responsibility Mr.John Jinapor who is the mines and Energy Committee said the expenditure captured in the memo wasn’t pursed  in the GNPC’s 2019 budget confirmed by the Parliament.
