Ending impunity for crimes against journalists

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Okudzeto Ablakwa has proposed the establishment of a  special fund to support Journalists who come under attack in the line of their duties in the country.

Presenting a statement on the floor of Parliament to mark the United Nations Day to end impunity for crimes against journalists, Okudzeto Ablakwa called on the Member States to implement measures to ensure the culture of impunity against journalists is brought to an end.

Mr Ablakwa highlighted some attacks on journalist including the assassination of one of Tiger IPI’s investigative Journalist Ahmed Suale and other brutal acts on media personnel’s.

The Day is observed annually on November 2.
