After a day of celebration in Beijing for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, protests have again broken out in Hong Kong.
Demonstrations across the city have already begun to turn violent, with petrol bombs and bricks thrown by protesters and police firing tear gas in response. The unrest will likely continue well into the evening.
A source confirmed that a man was shot by police in Hong Kong’s Tseun Wan district, where protests earlier turned violent. This is the first time the lethal force has been used in four months of unrest.
