A former head of Cornell University’s Counselling and Psychological Services Department, Dr. Gregory Eells, has been confirmed dead.
The 52 years, Psychologist is reported to have died after committing suicide.
According to reports gathered by Philadelphia Inquirer, the Psychologist died after jumping from the 17th floor of a Philadelphia building where he was living.
He left Cornell, six months ago to become executive director of counselling and psychological services at the University of Pennsylvania.
During his time on campus, the number of students seeking mental health services increased steadily largely due to a reduced stigma of seeking help.
Dr.Gregory Eells was a “transformational leader on student mental health, both nationally and at Cornell.”
