The Director of Ghana Education Service(GES) Prof. Opoku Amankwah has caution heads of basic schools not to sack pupils over levies and PTA fees.
According to him, Government has funded every fee that is needed for the basic school level such as the printing fees, Exam fees, and reiterate that suspension of levies in schools remains in force and that all heads of schools are to note that pupils/students should not be levied to fund terminal examination.
Speaking at a press conference at Peduase in the Eastern region, Prof. Opoku Amankwah noted that, management wishes to protect the access of each and every student to academic work in schools without the ability or refusal of their parents to contribute to the activities of PTAs.
He also added that Government will continue to supply school uniforms for first-year students of the junior high school where each student will be entitled to two school uniforms which shall be managed as was done last year without any change.
He said government through the ministry of education has entered into an arrangement with Akosombo textiles to supply the materials for the school cloth to dressmakers of the schools.
