Prof. Opoku Amankwah, Director General of Ghana Education Service has stated that, 490,000 qualified students across the country would automatically be placed for Free Senior High School.
According to him, the results submitted by WAEC to GES indicates that total candidate for the BECE was 517, 331 and out of this number, a complete aggregate file of 514,215 was submitted and an outstanding data for 3116 results are yet to be submitted to GES from WAEC.
Addressing the media at Peduase in the Eastern Region, he said WAEC submitted the results to GES on Saturday 31st August 2019 to enable GES commence the school placement process, and to their predictions 490,000 qualified students will be placed.
He added that any student or parent who wants to check his or her results can buy the voucher from Sunday evening, 8th September 2019 to check the results.
Prof. Amankwah again said, Ministry of Education together with Ghana Education Service in collaboration with Ghana Health Service and supported by UNICEF will organize health screening exercise for all children entering K.G 1.
He says this health screening will help in early detection of any child with issues for proper referral for diagnosis and treatment.
