The Omanehene of Nkonya Wurupong Traditional at Biakoye District in the Oti Region of Ghana, Nana Kwodwo Asiakwa II has launched the Sankybia Festival.
The Sankybia festival is a durbar of chiefs, Queen mothers and the entire people of the traditional to climax over one and half months of yam festival of the area and to thank God for seeing them through the year especially the yam festival period. It is also to take stock of achievements and failures and make projections towards the development of the area.
Speaking to media at the launch of the festival held in Accra, Nana Kwodwo Asiakwa indicated that, indiscipline will stop when there are enough developmental projects in the community.
According to him, When the youth are provided with jobs and adequate developmental project in the community then indiscipline will stop partially.
Sankybia Festival is scheduled to take come off from 25th of November and end on 1st of December 2019, under the theme: Our health, our culture: bridging the gap to sustain the youth.
Nana Kwodwo Asiakwa II Stressed that there is a need for school drop out to get support in terms of Vocational skills training like beads training in the community.
Ahead of the Sankybia festival, Nana Kwodwo Asiakwa II added that security ahead of the festival is very safe and they are ready to protect the livelihood of people who partake in the festival.
Nana Kwodwo Asiakwa II used this opportunity to advise the youth to stay away from excessive drinking.
