Cristiano Ronaldo widely regarded as the best player to have ever graced the game was named the latest winner of the Marca Legend award on Monday in Madrid.
Marca Leyenda (Marca legend) is an award given by the Spanish sports newspaper Marca to the best sports professionals in history. Since its inception in 1997 over 40 people have received this award.
He won the Scudetto in his debut campaign in Italy with Juventus, becoming the first player to win titles in the Premier League, La Liga Santander and Serie A, as well as the Super Coppa Italia and the UEFA Nations League with Portugal respectively.
Returning to the Spanish capital, CR7 seemed at home and very relaxed as he received the trophy.
“I changed a bit last year because I left Madrid, I needed more motivation after winning what I won. I needed a change to express myself as a footballer because I think I still have a lot to offer. I still feel motivated and I like what I do, but of course, what I like most is winning titles. Last year, we won three: the league title, the Super Coppa Italia and the Nations League with Portugal.” – He said in response to being asked if he felt satisfied with his achievements so far.
Ronaldo has scored over 700 senior career goals for club and country. Moreover, he is also the first player in history to win four European Golden Shoes.
Collectively, Ronaldo has won between 29 and 31 trophies in his career, including six league titles, five European Cups and one European Championship.
The top scorer in the history of the Champions League (127 goals), Real Madrid (451 goals), Portugal (88 goals) and EPL (84 goals) has left his mark in every club he has played for and continues to smash records. We are privileged to witness undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time.
